About the Annual UC Entrepreneur Pitch Competition

The Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the University of California has developed the Annual UC Entrepreneur Pitch Competition to help startups founded by UC entrepreneurs raise funding and build a network of potential investors.

This expands our support to entrepreneurs beyond the 60+ entrepreneurial and incubator programs across our UC campuses, labs, and medical centers that our faculty, alumni, and students depend on.

Competition Tracks

Early-stage Startups The early-stage track is open to startups who are in or have completed any pre Series-A round of funding.

Later-stage Startups The later-stage track is open to startups who are in or completed Series-A or later.

Awards & Prizes

Six startup finalists from each compeition track and will have the opportunity to:

  • Pitch at the Global Corporate Venturing and Innovation Summit in Monterey, California, to more than 650 VCs and investors on January 29-31, 2019.
  • Access a 3-day pass to the conference, network with investors, and exhibit at a small booth.

One winner will be selected from each compeition track and will recieved a cash prize of $10,000.

Eligibility + FAQ

The UC Annual Pitch Competition is open to startups who have at least one co-founder who is a UC alumna, student, or faculty.

  1. Submit application by 11:59pm November 28, 2018.
  2. December, 2018: 25 semi-finalists selected.
  3. January 2019: 12 finalists announced & assigned a mentor.
  4. January 25, 2019: Final pitch decks due.
  5. January 29-31, 2019: Finalists attend Global Corporate Venturing and Innovation Summit.
  6. February: Track winners announced, covered in UC & GCVI communications.
